Hiya Robbo
On the occasion of my first visit let me say Well Said Well Red!
Whoever coined that well known phrase "Money is the root of all evil" must really have had a crystal clear vision of what was going to happen to the world of professional football - with Liverpool as the benchmark symbol of how something so good can go so wrong. When Shankly dragged the club out of the old Div.2 and into Div. 1, he did so by virtue of his football knowledge, passion, hard work and man management; he did not need the backing of some foreigner with multi-millions of pounds - or should we now translate that to multi-millions of dollars, rubles, yen, etc. Now that we are sliding down into an ever-deepening abyss we need another Red Messiah to come along and rescue the club. The difference is that this next one will have to be carrying his cheque book (no more credit cards please) instead of his boots and a clip board. It makes no difference whatsoever who replaces Benitez if we do not have the financial clout to compete at the highest level. The sorry advent of Hick and Gillett was of course made all the worse in that it coincided with the worst global economic recession for many decades; the after effects of which we will still be suffering for many years to come. And that of course is where we face by far our biggest challenge. Where is that kind of money going to come from?
Whereas the Phoenix was able to rise from the ash, Liverpool can only rise from the cash!
Any offers please?
Three special addition of the red on. It is the constituted with the right and brightness. It is inflicted and imposed. It is the range and seeds of the radical and practical. It is the put forwarded and enshrined orbit of the times and all such conditions.
